About Reality Toon
Creators of animated cartoon were inspired from the outset by the slapstick comedies of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin and Laurel & Hardy. Slapstick comedies have disappeared and have been replaced by animated cartoons where the cartoonist's imagination is the only limit.
Let's imagine that thanks to the wizardry of technology, we can merge the worlds of "Buster Keaton" and "Tex Avery" into one...
It is not the first time that works of fiction blend animated cartoons with reality, but "Reality Toon" revolutionizes the genre.
If we look at "Roger Rabbit" or "Space Jam," the cartoon characters were integrated into the real world. In "Mary Poppins" or more recently in "Cool World," live actors moved about in an animated cartoon set. Finally in "The Mask," Jim Carrey turned into a toon character who continued to evolve in a real world.
Until today, these two worlds were distinct, as if they were opposed to each other. We were either in reality or in a cartoon world.
Now, what is original in "Reality Toon" is the way it mixes the two worlds to create a third one that is between real and drawn images.
A world that, both in substance and visual form, is a combination of burlesque films and cartoons.
In "Reality Toon" we have actors playing toon-like characters who evolve in a deformed caricature world typical of "Looney Tunes" or "Tex Avery" cartoons.
Facing the most horrible situations, they are as impervious to misfortune as a "Coyote," a "Spike" or a "Duffy."
For the very first time "Reality Toon" gives audiences the illusion of a hyperrealist cartoon.
